I perceive that thy mind is worried concerning the resurrection of the dead www.kevinhinckley.com

I know, it’s summer and its hot- but…

Mosiah 26 Now it came to pass that there were many of the rising generation that could not understand the words of king Benjamin, … They did not believe what had been said concerning the resurrection of the dead, neither did they believe concerning the coming of Christ. For it came to pass that they did deceive many with their flattering words, who were in the church, and did cause them to commit many sins…

First they flatter… Then they deceive… Then they lead away… Question: What would it take to flatter away active Latter Day Saints?

Alma to Corianton And now, my son, I have somewhat more to say unto thee than what I said unto thy brother… For thou didst not give so much heed unto my words as did thy brother, among the people of the Zoramites. Now this is what I have against thee; thou didst go on unto boasting in thy strength and thy wisdom. And this is not all, my son. Thou didst do that which was grievous unto me; [for as a result of your pride] thou didst forsake the ministry, and did go over into the land of Siron among the borders of the Lamanites, after the harlot Isabel.

What did Corianton’s pride lead to? Harlot Isabel? Isabel is probably another name for Jezebel, one of the female consorts for Baal worshippers. (the “groves”) Question: What would be the attraction of idol worship for a boy raised in gospel home?

Alma’s explanation And now, my son, I have somewhat to say concerning the restoration of which has been spoken; for behold, some have wrested the scriptures, and have gone far astray because of this thing. And I perceive that thy mind has been worried also concerning this thing. But behold, I will explain it unto thee. I say unto thee, my son, that the plan of restoration is requisite with the justice of God; for it is requisite that all things should be restored to their proper order.

Brigham Young’s vision with the Prophet Joseph Smith Tell the brethren if they will follow the spirit of the Lord, they will go right. Be sure to tell the people to keep the Spirit of the Lord; and if they will, they will find themselves just as they were organized by our Father in Heaven before they came into the world. Our Father in Heaven organized the human family, but they are all disorganized and in great confusion." Joseph then showed me the pattern, how they were in the beginning. This I cannot describe, but I saw it, and saw where the Priesthood had been taken from the earth and how it must be joined together, so that there would be a perfect chain from Father Adam to his latest posterity. Oscar W. McConkie, Angels, 113-145.

Behold, it is requisite and just, according to the power and resurrection of Christ, that the soul of man should be restored to its body, and that every part of the body should be restored to itself. And it is requisite with the justice of God that men should be judged according to their works; and if their works were good in this life, and the desires of their hearts were good, that they should also, at the last day, be restored unto that which is good. Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness. (Alma 40)

Elder Maxwell An otherwise permissive society, which tolerates almost everything, usually will not tolerate speech that challenges its iniquity. Evil is always intolerantly preoccupied with its own perpetuation. That Ye May Believe, p. 74

Cecil B. De Mille The movie, the Ten Commandments, used to begin with director Cecil B. De Mille walking out from behind a curtain. He would begin the movie by saying: "The history of mankind teaches us that we cannot break God's laws, rather we break ourselves against them."

So, how do you know which side of this line you will be on? At Death State of “Paradise” State of “Misery” ----------------------- RighteousEvil We are “raised to happiness according to [our] desires of happiness”

President Hinckley It is very important to be happy in this work. We have a lot of gloomy people in the Church because they do not understand, I guess, that this is the gospel of happiness. It is something to be happy about, to get excited about… I am satisfied that our Father in Heaven likes to see His children happy—not miserable, but happy… Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, 256.
