Model SA multiturn actuator
Drive - motor (or hand wheel) drives a worm/worm wheel gearset which turns a hollow output drive shaft. The SA is AUMA’s primary product line. A motor drives a worm shaft that in-turn drives a worm wheel, then the actuator output shaft. A handwheel drives the opposite side of the worm shaft in case manual operation is required. The actuator incorporates modular design. An example is how the motor can be easily removed by loosening 4 bolts and disconnecting a plug & socket connection at the motor – all without requiring access to the grease-filled gearcase. As with all AUMA electric actuators, it’s watertight with O-ring seals to meet the enclosure standard IP67 or NEMA 4X/6 – suitable for submersion in 6 ft of water for 30 minutes.

Model SA multiturn actuator
11 sizes output torque from 7 to 23,600 ft lbs thrust acceptance up to 450,000 lbs speed from 4.8 up to 216 rpm (at 60 Hz, in 12 increments - speed selections reduced for larger actuators) This wide range of sizes and output speeds enables the SA actuator to serve many valve automation applications. Versions are available for modulating service (SAR), high ambient temperature (SAH) low ambient temperature (SAT) and enhanced submersion protection (IP68). The SAExC is available for environments where hazardous gases or dust are present. SA07.2 – SA16.2 SA25.1 – SA48.1

SA Multiturn Actuator coupled with GK or GHT Multiturn Gearbox
SA actuator / GK gearbox Up to 11,900 ft lb torque Up to 309,000 lb thrust An SA multiturn actuator coupled with a GK bevel gearbox or GHT gearbox can be used in applications where high torque is required or high thrust must be accepted. Usually. The actuator / gearbox combination is more cost-effective than a larger direct mount actuator. Multiturn actuator/gearbox combinations can be provided with thrust capability of up to 900,000 pounds. SA actuator / GHT gearbox Up to 60,000 ft lb torque Up to 900,000 lb thrust
9
Plug & socket electrical connection
Screw / compression connection (no special tools required) Field wiring can be performed prior to actuator / valve installation Once wired, field wiring can be unplugged Can be utilized as a disconnect or supplied with a disconnect switch Safe terminals Optional ring-tongue terminals The plug and socket electrical connection is a big favorite of plant owners and valve assemblers.
10
Easily to set-up / commission
Easily settable position limit switches Just a few turns of a slotted shaft No declutch shaft Easy torque switch adjustment Test knobs to check limit & torque switches AUMA’s switch setting procedure is the simplest in the industry. 10
11
User friendly design offers actuator configuration flexibility
SA actuators can be furnished as conventional or non-intrusive actuators The tried and proven SA range of actuators can be supplied as either a conventional or non-intrusive actuator.
12
SA actuators can be furnished as ‘non-intrusive’ actuators
What is a non-intrusive actuator? An actuator whose parameters can be set without gaining access to the inside of the unit. Non-Intrusive Non-intrusive actuators are preferred by some end users, particularly in industries where hazardous gases or dust are present. In non-intrusive actuators, position and torque are mechanically sensed as in conventional actuators, but instead of switches, encoders are used. AUMA uses reliable absolute encoders that do not require a battery to store current valve position data or record actuator travel when normal power is not available. The encoders work with a microprocessor to control the position and torque limit functions. The encoder / microprocessor also provide plant operating personnel with a broad range of information on the automated valve. The microprocessor is provided with the AUMATIC actuator control package which must be included when a non-intrusive actuator is furnished.

16
SG.1 Quarterturn Actuator
Motor drives a three-stage planetary gear set which drives a worm/worm wheel gear set and finally a splined coupling. Hand wheel drives planetary gear housing then worm and coupling. The motor drives a 3-stage planetary gear which in-turn drives a worm/worm wheel gear set. A handwheel is available for manual operation. A separate splined coupling transmits torque from the actuator to the valve stem. The SG.1 series can also be furnished in a non-intrusive version.
