23. The re-direction to the ‘Yo Wireless’ Gatekeeper is controlled by a feature called ‘Public Spot’ on the gateway equipment. Generally speaking we would advise placing the ‘Public Spot’ on the edge of a network, therefore covering all the devices in the network. If it is operated on an individual access point, Public Spot can only manage the access of WLAN clients that associate directly with this access point. In contrast, a router, central-site gateway and WLAN controller can – through the Public Spot – provide authentication for an entire IP network, including multiple access points and their WLAN clients or Ethernet clients. A WLAN controller can additionally manage the individual access points in the network.
