Look at the maps on pages 41 and 42 of your text book. Make a list of reasons why you think Canadians live in those areas.

5 Situation Factors Situation Factors determine whether these settlements grow into towns and cities. Situation factors can be Economic (related to trade, markets and transportation) Political (regional capital or administrative centre)

10 Select one of the fastest growing and one fastest declining cities/towns from the previous lists and research why they are growing or declining. Make a list of reasons for growth and decline.

14 Regional Stereotypes Canadians are stereotyped depending on where they live in Canada. Nova Scotians are all seen to be fishermen, for example.

15 Regional Stereotypes In Cape Breton, the residents are usually described as Scottish or fiddlers, for example, and have a name that starts with Mc or Mac.

16 Regional Stereotypes Find a picture from a region of Canada (not Nova Scotia or Cape Breton) that shows a stereotype. Explain what the stereotype is and why it may be inaccurate.
