5 On the basis of skills involved Unskilled: Unskilled work is work which needs little or no judgment to do simple duties that can be learned on the job in a short period of time Semiskilled: Semiskilled work is work which needs some skills but does not require doing the more complex work duties. Skilled: Skilled work requires qualifications in which a person uses judgment to determine the machine and manual operations to be performed in order to obtain the proper form, quality, or quantity of material to be produced

6 Classification of work related activities Prevocational Activities Vocational Activities Activities Related work conditioning Activities related to work hardening Note: We can use these all activities for the purpose of assessment as well as for the intervention

7 Prevocational training A rehabilitation program designed to prepare a patient for the performance of useful paid work in a sheltered setting or community. It may involve training in basic work skills and counseling as required for a typical employment setting. 9 Work conditioning activities intensive, work-related, goal-oriented conditioning program. It is designed to restore physical capacity and function to enable the patient/client to return to work Designed specifically to restore systemic neuromusculoskeletal functions, motor function, and cardiovascular/pulmonary functions Activities: Activities are jogging, walking, working on treadmill or stepper, weight lifting activities etc.

10 Work hardening program A highly structured, goal-oriented, individualized intervention program Designed to return the patient/client to specific work It uses real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral, and vocational functions Designed for the clients who already experienced work Activities: Activities are related to specific job trades e.g. carpentry, welding work, office work, computer work, work related to operating the different machines at factory etc.
