Current Federal Safety Standards Not Met LNG storage tank impoundment designed to 100 percent of the tank contents rather than 110 percent; thermal radiation & flammable vapor exclusion zones extend offsite onto adjacent properties; evaluation by a seismic consultant required to determine existing tank compliance with the 2001 edition of the NFPA, which increased the stringency and complexity of the seismic requirements.
