March 2000 Pledging Conference € 1.8 billion was pledged for regional infrastructure projects, which had a regional or demonstration impact. EBRD committed to take “lead agency” role for three of the 25 initial “Quick start” projects and agreed to co-finance three more projects led by WB or EIB.

October 2001 Regional Conference October 2001 Regional Conference A second set of 27 regional infrastructure projects was identified, resulting in EUR 2.3 billion in new infrastructure investment in the region. EBRD is active in 10, which have a total value of over EUR 1.3 billion, for which EBRD would provide finance of over EUR 500 million

EBRD Infrastructure in SEE Over EUR 1.5 billion - 48 projects (excl. telecom) Pipeline of 20 projects - EUR 2.5 bn EBRD financing of EUR 800 million Commited to power, transport and municipal sectors, with dual public and private approach: - efficient use of public debt capacity - involvement of private sector where possible Reform still needed: regulatory and commercialisation/privatisation
