LEGISLATIVE IN AREA OF TRANSPLANTATION OF ORGANS IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA -The organ transplantation Law provide establishing of Biomedicine Administration as a part of the MoH which shall: -1) Coordinate the operations of health institutions authorised in accordance with Law and propose measures for improving the quality assurance system; 2) Perform quality control ; 3) Ensure and coordinate the distribution and exchange of organs between health institutions in the country, as well as with competent foreign legal entities, authorities and organisations with which cooperation is established; 4) Keep the Single National Donors Register; 5) Keep single waiting lists by types of organs; 6) Participate in the promotion of transplantation, etc.

According to the Proposal of organ transplantation Law, transplantation activities shall be carried out by the following health establishments: 1) health establishments authorised for procurement and distribution, where brain death is diagnosed and verified; 2) health establishments for organ grafting; 3) health establishments for matching tissues, i.e. for tissue typisation; 4) health establishments for transplantation which are also responsible for organ procurement, distribution and grafting. At each health care institutions responsible for transplantation of organs shall be formed transplantation teams and, an organ transplantation coordinator.
