How to Lead a Child to Christ
2
Keeping Accurate Records Get the child’s name. Get the child’s registration card. –This will let you know what decisions the child has made this week. –You will have the card ready to record whatever decision you help the child make.
4
Why did you come forward today? As much as possible, try to ask open- ended questions. No matter why the child came forward, make this experience a positive one!
5
Have you ever done this before? We want the children to understand eternal security. (Once a person is truly saved they are always saved.) Once again, make this a positive experience.
6
“Yes”...Tell me what you did back then? This is an open-ended question, it will allow the child to tell you exactly what they did. This is better than asking, “Have you been saved before?” They could say, “Yes.” And you won’t know what they believe.
7
Salvation Speak in simple terms! 1 Everyone has sinned Let the child know that even you, as an adult have sinned. If the child refuses to admit they are a sinner, then thank the child for coming forward and pray with him or her. If the child doesn’t admit to being a sinner don’t try to convince them.
8
2 Death in hell forever. 3 Jesus Christ died for your sin. How did Jesus die? Did He stay dead? Be truthful but don’t be overly descriptive in a way that would frighten the child.
9
Explain that Jesus gave us this special gift, of dying on the cross for our sins because He loves us and wants us to spend “forever” with Him in heaven. Receive Jesus Christ as your savior. 4 A B c Admit you are a sinner Believe that Jesus Died, was buried and rose again for you Call Upon Jesus to Save you
10
Try to get the child to pray their own prayer to God. You’re not done yet!! Deal with the child about eternal security. c Call Upon Jesus to Save you Be sure to record whatever decision the child to make.
