Statistics “Today, 46 million Baptists belong to churches cooperating with the Baptist World Alliance. Many Baptist groups, including the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist Bible Fellowship do not cooperate with the Alliance. [citation needed] Their number can add up to a total of close to 100 million adherents in the world through 211 denominations. STANDARD MANUAL FOR BAPTIST CHURCHES Edward Thurston Hiscox 1814-1901 Published June 1903 “American Baptists are decidedly Calvinistic as to substance of doctrine, but moderately so, being midway between the extremes of Arminianism and Antinomianism.” (Hiscox, p. 56)

Total Depravity ***This is the teaching which states you are born a sinner.*** The Five Points of Calvinism, Edwin H. Palmer: Although we assert that natural man- one who has not been regenerated by the Holy Spirit- can do relative good, it is necessary to reemphasize that even this relative good is not fundamentally “ truly good ” in God ’ s sight. The reason for this is, as the Belgic Confession puts it, that the motive of love and faith is missing. In fact, that relative good is basically, in the deepest sense, nothing else than sin and evil. John Wesley, Sermons on Original Sin, p. 340 "We are condemned before we have done good or evil, under the curse before we know what it is. “

Total Depravity ***This is the teaching which states you are born a sinner.*** “You have never had to sit down and teach your child to make some mistakes, do some wrong things, to exaggerate, lie a little bit, rebel and disobey. We are all born with that fallen, sinful nature.” (Bible Baptist Hour) In their own words:The Bible Says: Matthew 18:3 Matthew 19:14 1 John 3:4 James 4:17 Joshua 24:15 Ezekiel 18:20 Whose word are you going to take?

Unconditional Election ***This is the teaching of predestination*** Westminster Confession of Faith, Ch. 3: "God has predestined and foreordained some men and angels to everlasting life out of His free grace and love without any foresight of faith or works in man or perseverance in either of them and others are foreordained to everlasting death and the number of either is so certain and definite that it cannot be increased or diminished. “ Predestination Defined: "The doctrine that the salvation or damnation of individuals has been foreordained by God; the determination beforehand of future events." (Webster's Dictionary, 1977 edition, p.289)

Unconditional Election ***This is the teaching of predestination*** “Election is a sovereign act of God whereby He chooses certain individuals from the fallen race to eternal life for the glory of His name.” (Bible Baptist Hour) In their own words:The Bible Says: Acts 2:40 Revelation 22:14 Hebrews 5:8,9 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Colossians 3:25 Ezekiel 18:21 Make the choice

Limited Atonement ***This teaching states that Jesus death on the cross was not for everyone.*** The Five Points of Calvinism, Defined, Defended, Documented, "Christ's redeeming work was intended to save the elect only and actually secured salvation for them. His death was a substitutionary sacrifice of the penalty of sin in the place of certain specified sinners. In addition to putting away the sins of His people, Christ's redemption secured everything necessary for their salvation, including faith, which united them to Him. The gift of faith is infallibly applied by the Spirit to all for whom Christ died, thereby guaranteeing their salvation."
11
Limited Atonement ***This teaching states that Jesus death on the cross was not for everyone.*** “Jesus Christ came to redeem a people. He came to redeem a particular people, and He did it.” (Bible Baptist Hour) In their own words:The Bible Says: John 1:29 John 3:16,17 Romans 10:13 Titus 2:10,11 1 Timothy 2:4 2 Peter 3:9 Hebrews 2:9 OR

Irresistible Grace ***Grace is so strong, you cannot help but to yield to it.*** The Five Points of Calvinism, Defined, Defended, Documented: "The gospel invitation extends a call to salvation to everyone who hears its message. It invites all men without distinction to drink freely of the water of life and live. It promises salvation to all who repent and believe. But this outward general call, extended to the elect and non-elect alike, will not bring sinners to Christ. Why? Because men are by nature dead in sin and are under its power. They are of themselves unable and unwilling to forsake their evil ways and to turn to Christ for mercy. Consequently, the unregenerate will not respond to the gospel call to repentance and faith. No amount of external threatening or promises will cause blind, deaf, dead, rebellious sinners to bow before Christ as Lord and to look to Him alone for salvation. Such an act of faith and submission is contrary to the lost man's nature. "Therefore, the Holy Spirit, in order to bring God's elect to salvation, extends to them a special inward call in addition to the outward call contained in the gospel message. Through this special call the Holy Spirit performs a work of grace within the sinner which inevitably brings him to faith in Christ …
13
Irresistible Grace ***Grace is so strong, you cannot help but to yield to it.*** In their own words:The Bible Says: Acts 26:28 Joshua 24:15 1 Kings 18:21 Romans 6:17-18 Acts 2:40 What’s it going to be? “God makes them willing in the day of His power. He does not force salvation on people that don’t want it — He makes them willing” (Bible Baptist Hour)
14
Perseverance of the Saints ***Once saved, always saved*** The Five Points of Calvinism, Defined, Defended, Documented: "The doctrine of perseverance of the saints does not maintain that all who profess the Christian faith are certain of heaven. It is saints -- those who are set apart by the Spirit -- who persevere to the end. It is believers -- those who are given true, living faith in Christ -- who are secure and safe in Him. Many who profess to believe fall away, but they do not fall from grace for they were never in grace. True believers do fall into temptations, and they do commit grievous sins, but these sins do not cause them to lose their salvation or separate them from Christ." Sam Morris, a Baptist preacher: “We take the position that a Christian's sins do not damn his soul. The way a Christian lives, what he says, his character, his conduct, or his attitude toward other people have nothing whatsoever to do with the salvation of his soul. That is settled in Christ and Christ alone.. All the prayers a man may pray, all the Bibles he may read, all the churches he may belong to, all the services he may attend, all the sermons he may practice, all the debts he may pay, all the ordinances he may observe, all the laws he may keep, all the benevolent acts he may perform will not make his soul one whit safer; and all the sins he may commit from idolatry to murder will not make his soul in any more danger.” Bill Foster, a Baptist preacher: "If I killed my wife and mother and debauched a thousand women, I couldn't go to hell -- in fact, I couldn't go to hell if I wanted to. If on the judgment day, I should find that my loved ones are lost and should lose all desire to be saved, and should beg God to send me to hell with them, He couldn't do it“
15
Perseverance of the Saints ***Once saved, always saved*** In their own words: “When we speak of final perseverance, we are therefore saying that those whom God has chosen, redeemed, and effectually called cannot totally or finally fall, but shall be eternally saved.” (Bible Baptist Hour) The Bible Says: Acts 1:25 Hebrews 12:15 Galatians 5:4 1 Corinthians 9:27 Hebrews 3:12 The Devil or God? You decide
