Assessing Prior Knowledge Based on your prior knowledge, sequence the sample questions/statements into a hierarchy of higher level questions.

Bloom’s Taxonomy Sort and label strips according to the Bloom’s Taxonomy handout. Engage in a dialogue justifying and defending why each question belongs in a specific group. Evaluation Synthesis Analysis Application Comprehension Knowledge

Process 1.Brainstorm: When do you currently use higher level questioning? 2.Share: How does Common Core lend itself to using higher level questioning strategies? 3.Connect: What are the specific connections to 3b (see “Indicators” on pg. 65)? 4.Discuss: What are three specific activities or teaching opportunities where students could direct questioning in the classroom.
