10 Sliding scale Excellent : 21-25 Very good: 17-21 Good: 13-16 Fair: 9-12 Weak: 0-8 Most students achieve an excellent mark Evaluation of Sources

11 www. pdst. ie Devote equal space to each source Marks will only be awarded for THREE sources Discuss strengths, weaknesses and relevance Be aware of bias Mention the benefits of bibliographies to research Difficult language, lack of photos/maps, lack of glossary are all valid weaknesses Use all the available space BUT do not exceed the allocated page – material will be disregarded. 13 Don’t choose a topic too closely related to the course; e.g. The founding of the GAA, Nazi Propaganda, etc. Narrow focus is best Encourage originality No start date – Ancient History Beware celebrities! 1500 words Extended Essay
