6. Boxer Rebellion Took place from 1898-1901
The Righteous and Harmonious Fists was a group that wanted Chinese prestige to be restored. (Martial arts + Calisthenics)
The “unfair treaties” that the Europeans imposed on China angered them, and they wanted the proper respect
They take Beijing, and kill some foreign missionaries. Europeans come and fight back, and restore order, but Qing are greatly weakened

8. Xinhai Rebellion 1911-1912 Wuchang Uprising was the starting point
People were tired of the lack of prestige and honor that China had now after its elongated isolationism lead to a weaker army
Decided to get a new type of government, ended up choosing a republic.
