ISS phone meeting 8 dec. 2005 Alain Blondel Given the time pressure put on us by the 'CERN council strategy' it seems wise to have a written status statement from the ISS at the time of each ISS meeting. This would consist of a 2-3 page document produced by each working group convener with a general header by the detector council. This format seems to be manageable and (perhaps) efficient. 5. Charge to working group conveners: a) to assemble their working groups b) to nominate one person to talk at the physics meeting on London 17 of november c) to prepare the said 2-3 pages of summary for the time of the ISS meeting in Japan d) to attend a first meeting of the extended council by phone on the 27 october 2005 at 13:15 GMT. e) to prepare a 1h30 minutes presentation of results from their working group for the meeting of ISS in Japan (including technology talks as they see fit) (typically: technology/performance/cost estimate) 6. Paul will get in touch with Mauro to start producing a proposal for how to input detector performance data (i.e. resolution, eff. and back per channel, per bin of ?)

ISS phone meeting 8 dec. 2005 Alain Blondel to do for the KEK meeting in january: 1.each detector group is to produce a first go at a reasonable globes files Trying to lose as little information as possible. Is it possible to include a systematic error to each bin? 2. physics group to review: a- understanding of matter effects! b- understanding of relationship of electron neutrino cross-section vs muon neutrino cross-section in the low energy regime (0.1 - 2.0 MeV) c. neutrino interaction models: what is the adequate description of (and errors on) -- fermi motion and binding energy -- charm production cross-section 3.In absolute for meeting in January: first go at defining a detector R&D programme. ISS detector working group: connection with physics group

ISS phone meeting 8 dec. 2005 Alain Blondel Practical matters: 1.phone meetings. Phone or VRVS… or Skype? next date 5 January – or 12 January 2005 ? Thursday 14:00 GMT – difficult to find another time with California, Virginia, Europe, India and japan 2. documents Word or LateX? (Should be unified) 3. meeting in Japan

Organization is responsibility of conveners. Wednesday 25/1 afternoon special discussion on technologies invite experts from Japan in particular. suggestions to Alan Bross and Kenj Kaneyuki two parallel detector sessions: Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning reports from working groups expected emphasis: near detectors for low energy beam following meeting April 25-28 in RAL
