3 The Hungarian Institute for Culture and Arts Established 60 years ago Its supervisory body is the Hungarian Ministry of Education and Culture The institute has 90 employees, and it is connected to thousands of local cultural organisations in the country.

5 The activities of the Institute adult training amateur arts, talent care; research; facilitating the cultural life of national minorities in Hungary; establishing a cultural and methodological background for Hungarian minorities living over the border; organizing and promoting community development activities and programmes; the maintenance and continuous enlargement of a vocational library containing about 70.000 books, 10.000 periodicals, and thousands of videos and slides. the running of the Information Centre

6 Research activities investigate Hungarian cultural consumer habits, the issues of cultural industries, cultural poverty, social capital, the level of ICT access in Hungary, and the attitudes of cultural professionals.
