2 Outline Final CASL specification document –URLURL Implemented Features –With differences from above specification Non-deployed Features –Mostly student perspective –Planned for inclusion this Fall in time for C term advising day Potential Extensions –Yet to be decided upon. Perhaps CASL could prioritize some potential extensions?

7 2.1.4 Student proposed schedule 2.1.5 Student Screens::Schedules –Student can create a SINGLE proposed schedule. Original specification called for student to store any number of schedules –Original CASL document requested any number of schedules to be composed. [ACTION: How important is this for CASL? See page 8 of URL]URL Entry is tabular and not validated –Entries can say “MA 1xxx” or “some PH course” –Four years from current date are shown to the student –Any past proposed schedule is automatically adjusted so entries “in the past” cannot be updated

8 Open Issues have been partially addressed What happens when a student changes advisor? –Private faculty comments cannot be viewed by other advisors. Faculty can enable/disable access for other faculty advisors on each comment, individually. Can a comment be kept private? –Faculty comments can be private from the student; student comments can be private from the faculty; faculty comments can be private from other advisors. [not sure if student can choose to have a comment be private from any future advisor] Do comments form part of the official education record? –All comments are in the banner database and, therefore, will be included under any served subpoena. Can comments be deleted? –Students can delete only their comments; faculty members can delete only their comments. Comments can be edited at any time, too.
