Research Paper Selection 445 papers submitted to conference 39 papers accepted in regular category –acceptance rate: ~1 out of 11 66 papers accepted in short category –overall acceptance rate: ~1 out of 4 Stringent, multi-step review process –initial round of reviews (most papers had 3 reviews, all papers had at least 2 reviews) –discussion phase: resolve conflicting review scores –vice chairs recommend papers to accept –program chairs, vice chairs meet (July 26) to decide on final list of papers to accept

Best Paper Award 15 papers were considered as candidates for best paper –average score of at least 4, or –support from at least one reviewer for best paper Program chairs narrowed 15 to 5 papers Best paper selected from 5 based on voting –committee consisting of program chairs + vice chairs Best paper: Non-redundant data clustering David Gondek and Thomas Hofmann

Student Travel Awards 5 travel awards of $500 each sponsored by IBM –cover student travel to Brighton, UK Total of 36 applications received Criteria for selecting the final 5 student papers to receive award –paper accepted in regular category –paper received an average score of at least 4 –student is primary author 3 USA, 1 Europe, 1 Australia
