4. 1.All fields within the code are alpha-numeric. 2.The first three characters identify the specific FEHB plan. The first two characters will be used for existing plans. The third character will not be used at this time (coded as “0”, zero) and will provide a buffer if the need exists in the future. 3.The fourth and fifth character will identify the rating area for the specific plan. 4.The sixth character will identify the plan option. 5.The last character will designate Self-only or Family or some other tiered system (e.g. Self Plus One). 6.Proposed implementation in CY 2008.
