1
Genetics Making a model of DNA. Objective: I can discuss how cells pass on Genetic Information.
2
Color the individual structures on the worksheets as follows: Adenine = red Guanine = blue Phosphate = brown Thymine = green Cytosine = yellow Deoxyribose = purple
3
Using the small symbols (squares, circles, and stars) Line up the bases, phosphates and sugars. Glue the appropriate pairs together to form a nucleotide.
4
Construct the right side of your DNA model Put together in sequence a: cytosine, thymine, guanine and adenine nucleotide.
5
Chargaff’s Rule Adenine Thymine Adenine must pair with Thymine GuanineCytosine Guanine must pair with Cytosine about the same Their amounts in a given DNA molecule will be about the same. G C TA

7
Construct left side of you DNA model Create the complementary nucleotide sequence that matches with the right side. A T G C
8
Use the remaining Nucleotides Add to your DNA model. Make sure you have the correct base pairs.
