4 Good King Wenceslas The "Good King Wenceslas" in this traditional Christmas song is thought to be Wenceslas, a Duke of Bohemia. He ruled from 921 to 935 AD and was made a saint. Bohemia is in Central Europe and is part of the present Czech Republic. The lyrics (words) were written by John Mason Neale and published in 1853. The music to this Christmas carol originated in Finland 300 years earlier. Do you recognize this tune? “Good King Wenceslas looked out On the feast of Stephen.
