Traditional Games About the Project Started in 1998 Students in physical education collected game – their own games – in textbook - from elderly people back home – in database “Traditional games are rule-games taught to younger children by older children or grown ups, and passes on to new generations”.

Traditional Games Background Changes in society (industries, settlement, cars, familes, TV --) Worries – word wide (Bishop & Curtis, 2001) Links to Curriculum plan (L97) (play, culture and physical activities) Links to other project in HSH (Legends – Folk music –Folk dance)

Traditional Games Aims for the project Collect traditional games - especially of physical skill Save this culture heritage for coming generations Train students in research methods Train student in information communication technology (ICT) Build database for collecting and publicizing

June 2005 Collected hundreds of game – their own - and from elderly people back home – (problem with rules – emotional – good memories) Use of interview-guide not successful 130 games in the Database - some with video-clips 2002 - all students manage to use e-mail and attachment 2004 - all students manage to use the Database - and ClassFronter to present their own games for textbook 2005 - new design on the Database – easier to run International base in English

Traditional Games Further work Register collected games for the base Produce video-clip for illustrating new games Develop the International base – each countries Translate Norwegian games into English Exchange students collects games Make “Network" in Norway and in foreign countries
