6. SUST: Historical Background The history of Sudan University of Science & Technology dates back to 1950 with the establishment of Khartoum technical institute (KIT). In 1975 KIT was renamed Khartoum polytechnic (KP) which embraced than all technical institutes in Sudan In 1990 KP was upgraded to Sudan University of Science & Technology (SUST).
