3 Our standards This SMS applies to all schools making educational visits off site (or even onsite) All trips must have educational worth and have the written approval of a HT or GB All events with an overnight element will be logged with EPU All health and safety law applies to outdoor and adventurous activities in the same way as if you were in school Caution if you plan your own trips abroad

5 Planning and achieving the SMS Schools’ EVCs OCR RSA Off-site Safety Management Certificate Risk assessment, generic, specific, dynamic SMS covers: weather, behavioural problems, tour operators, plan Bs, finance, charging, supervision, ratios, using volunteers, head counts, buddy systems, circle buddy systems, remote supervision, down time, transport, SEN, medical needs, sun safety, consent, contact, hiring coaches, licences, private cars, minibuses, insurance.
