“ In addition to the study of local culture, Abita Springs Elementary students also collaborate via computer with students from different parts of the world, doing projects such as the House Project which help students understand differing lifestyles by exchanging detailed information about their home environment. ” ( “ Hypertext Folklife Curriculum Project “ ) “ Not only do they become acquainted with different cultures, but they also learn to communicate effectively via modern technologies. ” ( “ Hypertext Folklife Curriculum Project “ )

Conclusion: “ With the assistance of modern technologies Louisiana children are reaching out in the pursuit of learning as they reach back to discover their roots. Using technology to reach across geographical boundaries, they discover new worlds, new cultures, new friends while they prepare for a life whose only certainty will be the inevitability of change, where the acquisition, possession, and manipulation of knowledge will be the universal currency. ” ( “ Hypertext Folklife Curriculum Project Project tectonic support: Apple Link and AT&T Learning Circle
