2 2 What is “Green Technology & Management Symposium 2010”? As the threat of global warming has been widely recognized, the approach to prevent global warming which used to be concerned only in particular countries is now spread to the emerging countries such as China and India. Of course, in Japan, the effort to reduce greenhouse gases is expected to be further enforced, which is induced by the appearance of the Democratic Party of Japan that shows high interest in global warming. In addition to that, the environmental issues like toxic substance pollution and water/food problems that are concerned to be deficient in the future has grown worldwide. In the current condition where the interest in environment is extremely high, it is actually a good chance for the Japanese industries with leading environment and energy technology. Today, since the “ environmental performance ” is required in every product and service, the environmental business market has rapidly developed and enlarged. With these situations, Nikkei BP has determined to hold “ Green Technology & Management Symposium 2010 ” in May, 2010. This symposium will introduce the hints of taking green action, starting from the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, from the technology and management sides.
