2 Educational load for lecturers (1) Preparation of new curriculum (2 years) Deployment in September 2005 1st year (700 + 300 students) Dramatically increased educational workload for the Faculty staff: –Example: PreBologna Algorithms and Data Structures –700 students, 3 groups * 2h (Kalpić alone) –700 students, 6 groups * 2h (3 assistants) –2 interim examinations –4 terms/student for final written examinations (33% of students) –oral examinations (66% of students)

3 Educational load for lecturers (2) PostBologna Algorithms and Data Structures –850 students, 10 groups * 4h (10 lecturers + 8 assistants) –12 tests/homework –3 on-line tests –3 automatically evaluated homework problems –2 interim written examinations –final examination (1+1)

4 Educational load for students PreBologna: –30 h/week direct education –learning at the time of examinations PostBologna –20 h/week direct education –learning in parallel to lectures

5 Results ~ 75% students have passed examinations per course Students survey – mostly favourable Lecturers –partly (silently) against –(slight) majority in favour
