Tapeworms Can live in the digestive system, digestive tract, muscles, eyes, liver, lungs, or brain Symptoms: Digestive symptoms, abdominal pain, hunger, weight loss, worm in stool Example: Pork tapeworm Found in pork

Brucellosis Infectious Disease
Caused by the bacteria in the genus Brucella Passed among animals Humans can become infected by coming in contact with a contaminated animal Symptoms: Fever, sweats, headaches, back pains, weight loss, and physical weakness Severe infections of the nervous systems or lining of the heart may occur.

Cysticercosis & Neurocysticercosis
An infection caused by the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium Penetrate the intestinal wall and invade subcutaneous tissue, brain, eye, muscle, heart, liver, lung, and pertioneum When cysticerci are found in the brain, it is called neurocysticercosis Symptoms: Lumps under skin, blurry vision, retinal detatchment or swelling, seizures, headaches, confusion, sudden death

Migrate into muscles Caused by eating raw or undercooked pork Most common in areas where ham or sausage are eaten Symptoms: Stomachache, loss of appetite, diarrhea, eye bleeding, achy muscles and joints, fever, chills, thirst, hives, fatigue, difficulty swallowing

Most outbreaks occur in late fall and winter months Very common Swine flu viruses do not usually infect humans

Causes illness in piglets Symptoms: Progressive loss of body condition, visibly enlarged lymph nodes, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, pale skin, and jaundice
