2. Overview
I, John Smith, am requesting an opportunity to telecommute for my job as an IT Professional.
My responsibilities can frequently be accomplished entirely from my desk, making my position a good fit for telecommuting.
I propose a one month trial period to determine if this is successful for both the company and myself. This will coincide with Project A, allowing for a quantitative review of success.
My telecommuting work location is a spare bedroom with a door located away from most of my family activity. The work location already contains a desk, strong lighting, a phone, and many spare electrical outlets for equipment.

3. Benefits
Telecommuting offers an opportunity for increased productivity on Project A due to fewer interruptions during the work day.
This will also eliminate the impact of poor weather for days when driving to the office would be difficult.

4. Challenges
Telecommuting will be a challenge for the aspects of Project A that require group discussions. This can be overcome by:
Having these discussions on my in-office days
Scheduling conference calls with shared desktop applications such as Web-Ex
Communication will be handled via phone, , instant messaging and daily summaries of my completed work.

6. Trial Period Details Tuesday and Wednesday: remote work days
Monday, Thursday and Friday: office days
One month trial – specific results to be measured against the success of Project A
