What is ICT? ICT is not just your computer!
ICT is defined as any form of technology which allows us to send or receive information. Information can range from a message from your mates to the weather!

How many examples... Think of as many different technologies in your home which allow you to communicate in small groups. The group with the most will win some merits!

The reasons people may have trouble accessing ICT are – Can not afford it Do not understand how it works It is not available to them Not interested in using it

Scenarios You are going to be split into small groups to consider some scenarios. You are to read your scenario and consider What can you do with the technology you have? What problems do you think you will face? Think about the advantages of ICT we have just considered and think how it might effect them. Choose one person in your group to feed back to the class

Scenarios Scenario - You are the eldest of four brothers living in Zimbabwe, Africa. Your Father and main money earner has not had a job for 5 months. You work as a street vendor to help support your family. You have not been to school for 2 years. What advantages will ICT have for you? What problems does the lack of ICT have for you? Scenario - You live in a council estate with your Mum. Your Mum can find work and money is always tight. You do not have a computer at home but you have access to computers at school. What advantages will ICT have for you? What problems does the lack of ICT have for you? Scenario - Both of your parents are out of work and are struggling with money. Your school has leant you a old computer so you can do your GCSE coursework at home. What advantages will ICT have for you? What problems does the lack of ICT have for you?
