Comments Allowed by EU Law in the context of Family reunification (article 7.2) NL was precursor and been followed by GER, FR and DK Schemes proposed are very diverse – From very hard requirements (NL) to mere evaluation of language capacities (FR) – Special mention to DK "integration inside the host Member State" (DK) Legally highly questionable see first session of the afternoon

3 categories of MS – Formal integration contract (6MS with ≠) “Long” & “Short Style” + LX & BE + ↗ level (2009) – Attendance to mandatory courses (and passing test for GER) is a condition (4MS) – Language and/or orientation tests are precondition for the issuance of a LTR permit (7 MS) 3 lang. & 4 lang + civic New phenomenom impact directive 2003/109/EC Lack of homogeneity: language level and formation

Integration measures and access to nationality: 18 MS Language knowledge in ALL Member States – Examination ≠ No formal Formal (oral or written/oral and written) – Language level different and reversal of trend from A2 to B1 – ≠ among MS with regard courses available Civic knowledge requirement – not in 5 MS and differences for the others – way to examine similar when exist multiple choice questionnaire (8 MS) or interview (3 MS)
