Animal to Save Who: Tasmanian Devil What: Latin name: Sarcophilus harrisii Where: Australia, primarily in Western Victoria When: As soon as possible! Why: Tasmanian Devils have been protected by the Australian government since 1941, but are still considered endangered. Many suffer from DFTD or Devil Facial Tumor Disease and this has slowed the recovery of these animals. How: By selecting several different Tasmanian Devils from different strains (non-relational), we can breed them in captivity before reintroducing them into the wild.

What funding will do Funding will provide specialists for the voyage We expect to restore the habitat and select a few animals for breeding Once we have reached our goal of 1000 Tasmanian Devils free of DFTD, we will begin reintroducing them into the wild We expect this project to take roughly 4 years However, with the more funding we get, the sooner we can save them!!!
