AIP Differentiation Structured program Two term sequence (primarily) Support, advice, and guidance provided to students throughout the program Open availability Available to students in any major who are not required to participate in another experiential program (co-op, internship, etc….) Junior status preferred (but Sophomores in good standing welcome) Work 10-30 hours, while taking classes Academically grounded Earn academic credit Participate in proven reflection and assessment exercises

Two Tracks 2 term sequence Exploration of Academic Internships (3 credit hours, classroom) ○ Preparation, help in finding an internship Academic Internship (3 credit hours, online) ○ Reflection, assessment, and support while on internship 1 term course Individual Academic Internship (6-12 credit hours, online) ○ Designed for students who have secured an internship on their own, so do not need our help to secure one as offered in the Exploration course in the two term sequence ○ Combines/adapts content from 2 term sequence into a single online course taken while on internship

Student Benefits Learn more about their field of interest through observation and direct participation in a job setting Establish future employment connections Build on the skills learned in the classroom Build their resume work experience Explore professional interests

Target Students Students who… want to gain professional experience, but don’t have an internship/co-op program in their department want to explore potential professional areas want to earn credit for an internship they have identified/secured

Internship Specifics Required minimum of 100 hours over the academic term (10 hours/week) Usually part-time, but could be full- time Students typically take classes while on internships

Participating Companies Over 200 organizations and companies such as… Cincinnati Museum Center Procter & Gamble Salvation Army Cincinnati Bell …Both for profit and not-for-profit, paid and unpaid opportunities

How Do Students Get Started? 2 term sequence Sign up for 36-PD-280 or 300 (Exploration of Academic Internships) This course is designed to help students prepare for and secure work for an internship Students should take it in the term immediately preceding the term in which they want to intern 1 term course (for students who have secured an internship on their own) Speak with a Manager of Academic Internships
