22 FAQs If a Georgia private high school or non-Georgia public school only offers physical science in the 8 th grade, can a student use that credit to satisfy the RHSC? Question:

23 FAQs Yes. Students enrolled in Georgia private high schools and high schools in other states often complete physical science while in the 8 th grade. As a result, students from private high schools and public high schools in other states can count physical science courses taken in the 8 th grade as one of the 4 required science units. Answer:

34 Lawful Presence October 2010, the Board of Regents approved two new policies which went into effect Fall 2011:

35 Policy 4.1.6 A person who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible for admission to any University System institution which, for the two most recent academic years, did not admit all academically qualified applicants (except for cases in which applicants were rejected for non-academic reasons). The following institutions currently fall under 4.1.6: Georgia College and State University Georgia Health Sciences University Georgia Institute of Technology Georgia State University University of Georgia

36 Policy 4.3.4 Each University System institution shall verify the lawful presence in the United States of every successfully admitted person applying for resident tuition status, as defined in Section 7.3 of this Policy Manual, and of every person admitted to an institution referenced in Section 4.1.6 of this Policy Manual. Section 7.3Section 4.1.6 Policy 4.3.4 only impacts those students applying for in- state tuition.

37 Verifying Lawful Presence Institutions may verify lawful presence in a number of ways such as: Eligibility for Federal Student Aid SEVIS US birth certificate Georgia driver’s License issued after January 1, 2008 US passport Permanent Resident Card
