It uses 3-DES for encryption, the key is generated from a MD5 hash of your master password.  The master password is not stored in the database. Instead, an MD5 hash of the password and a random 32-bit salt is stored and checked against entered values.  Strong random number generator gathering event entropy is used to generate random passwords. 6
