2. Goal for Today Objectives: Students will be able to- – Observe and identify and explain the role of the major parts of the digestive system and urinary system in a frog. – Observe and identify traits help amphibians survive in both aquatic and land environments.

3. Safety Avoid contact with your face. Know where the nearest eye-wash station is. Firmly secure specimen to your dissecting pan. DO NOT dissect specimen while holding it. Handle the scalpel with extreme care and always cut away from others and yourself.

4. Amphibian Disection Amphibian (amphi- on both sides, bios life)- Animals that live in both land and water. Leopard frogs- Common in North America

5. Frog Backgroud Frogs begin as tadpoles and have tails and gills Adolescent frog develops lungs and legs.

6. Skin Frogs can breathe through their skin, and absorb liquid through their skin.

7. Tympanic membrane Sound causes tympanic membrane to vibrate. (similar to an ear drum). Can hear clearly in and out of water.

8. Fill out your packets! Whenever you need guidance look at your packets. They contain loads of information. Mrs. Parker and I will walk around assisting groups. If you know where something is located, help others locate it.

9. Eye sight Eyes are on side and are far forward. Helps detect predators while still being submerged in water.
