Southern Willamette Valley 2009 Long-Term Groundwater Monitoring Results – Part 1

Sampling Programs using domestic wells  2000-2001 Nitrate Testing Looked for good coverage of the area, and targeted shallow wells  2002 Study Looked to confirm earlier results, and to determine if any other parameter of concern was present

Long Term Measuring Overall Groundwater Quality  Process of Selection

Long Term Measuring Overall Groundwater Quality  Network of 40 domestic and monitoring wells established

Long Term Measuring Overall Groundwater Quality  DW = Domestic Wells, generally deeper, used on a regular basis  GW = Groundwater Monitoring Wells, generally shallower, purged only when sampled

Long Term Measuring Overall Groundwater Quality What is being measured  pH  Specific Conductance  Temperature  Dissolved Oxygen  Nitrate  Sulfate (every other time)

Long Term Measuring Overall Groundwater Quality Sampling Program occurs every 3 months (quarterly) DW Wells take about 2 days GW Wells take about 4-5 days 13 Quarterly events completed, next one is due in November

 Changes to Program 2 DW wells were discontinued (DW-4 & DW-14) One GW Well was dug out (GW-15) One GW Well still a hit and miss (GW-2) Long Term Measuring Overall Groundwater Quality
