P EDAGOGY & P HILOSOPHY Thematic approach – use of topics & sub- topics to link the concepts covered Active learners – use of a wide range of instructional strategies to motivate Aware that children learn in different ways – access to learning Working as a whole- class, in small groups, in pairs (collaborative learning) & independently. Encourage them to be the best they can be !

E NGLISH Speaking & listening Creative writing Reading Spelling (42 sounds + alternative ways of writing long vowels) Grammar Vocabulary Comprehension Handwriting Spelling : letter sounds for regular words such as train and drum Letter names for ‘tricky words’ such as there and little Mnemonics: silly sentences eg. because Dictation – every Friday (10 words) Long vowels – alternative ways of spelling same sound eg. ai, ay and a-e in train, play and game.
