I NTRODUCTION - T OPIC Study area: Incheon Gyo Watershed 3
4
I NTRODUCTION - T OPIC The city of Incheon in South Korea had a devastating flood in 1997 on the Incheon Gyo located near the Yellow Sea. This area is influenced by tide level, inundations occur. Incheon Gyo has a gentle slope and lowland, inundation often occurs by rainfall. Topic: we will analyze reduction of water level in this area by using ArcGIS and MOUSE. 4

W HAT IS GIS? GIS = Geographic Information System Why are we using these GIS data? To have a delimitation of the area, with the topography and the buildings, the roads… To create a mesh for MOUSE software Which software are we using? ArcGIS (ArcMap) made by ESRI 17
18
D ELIMITATION OF THE AREA Clip tool: catchment file with roads, buildings and contour cut the features following the shape of the catchment + CLIP 18
19
C REATION OF A DEM First step: to create a TIN (= Triangulated Irregular Network) Tool : 3D analyst 19
20
C REATION OF A DEM Creation of a DEM for each layer (contour, buildings and roads) DEM = Digital Elevation Model Tool : feature to raster 20
21
F ROM DEM TO MESH FILE Merge the 3 rasters in one Convert the final raster in Ascii to use in MOUSE as a mesh 21

MOUSE 22
23
W HAT IS MOUSE? MOUSE is a program which provides sewage pipe, open channel, surface runoff etc, flow simulation as well as hydraulic analysis. Why are we using MOUSE program? Analyze of reduction of water level in sewer pipe. Risk analysis of flood damage What kind of software are we supposed to use? MOUSE And MIKE View 23
