Ch. 24 - Corporate Bodies 21.1B1. Definition. A corporate body is an organization or a group of persons that is identified by a particular name and that acts, or may act, as an entity. 24.1A. Enter a corporate body directly under the name by which it is commonly identified, except when the rules that follow provide for entering it under the name of a higher or related body … or under the name of a government. ▫Consult works issued by the body, or ▫Reference sources 12

Choice of form 24.1A. If the name of a corporate body consists of or contains initials, omit or include full stops and other marks of punctuation according to the predominant usage of the body. In case of doubt, omit the full stops, etc. Do not leave a space between a full stop, etc., and an initial following it. Do not leave spaces between the letters of an initialism written without full stops, etc. 24.2B. If variant forms of the name are found in items issued by the body, use the name as it appears in the chief sources of information … as opposed to forms found elsewhere in the items. 24.3A, Note 7.
