2 Professor Li Sifa A pioneer of modern Chinese aquaculture Born on banks of the Yangtze River Graduated from Shanghai Fisheries University in 1960

3 Professor Li Sifa Prof. Li is widely recognized as one of the world leaders in aquaculture genetics Selective breeding of freshwater fishes, notably carps, breams, and tilapias. Developed improved strains of fish which are cultured widely throughout China

4 Professor Li Sifa Author of 16 books 210 peer reviewed papers Editorial board of six scientific journals Expert panels, including: INGA, IUCN, China Ministry of Agriculture, Chinese Germplasm Certification

5 Professor Li Sifa Agricultural Science and Technology Progress Award Outstanding Scientist Award Naga Award from ICLARM Popular professor at Shanghai Fisheries University

6 Professor Li Sifa Concerned with protecting freshwater biodiversity and the environment Early champion of sustainable aquaculture Dr. Li’s work has had enormous economic and social benefits in China and neighboring countries

7 Dr. In-Bae Kim Distinguished career started in the early 1950s, teaching at National Fisheries University in Busan 1960, he developed and managed the first aquaculture research station in Korea

8 Dr. In-Bae Kim Founding member and Past President of both the Korean Fisheries Society and the Korean Aquaculture Society Editor in chief for the journals published by both societies

9 Dr. In-Bae Kim Professor to many of the leading aquaculture scientists of Korea Representative of Korean aquaculture science to many international conferences and workshops

10 Dr. In-Bae Kim Developed breeding techniques for many of the fish species farmed in Korea. Introduced several important food fishes to Korea Artificial breeding and larval production of tilapia, grass carp, silver carp, and channel catfish

11 Dr. In-Bae Kim Developed cage culture and intensive recirculating systems in Korea Credited with increasing carp production from 287 tons to more than 12,000 tons Widely recognized as a pioneer in the development of aquaculture in Korea

15 Harry Rea Since 1991: Aquaculture & Fisheries Advisor – USAID Technical assistance in Bangladesh, Mali, Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Jordan, Guyana, Jamaica, Honduras, Nepal and Thailand

16 Harry Rea USAID’s technical liaison with the WorldFish Center Harry has overseen nearly $40 million in aquaculture research and development activities Harry will not arrive until Wednesday accepting for him will be one of his colleagues
