The benefits of Service Learning For Students Enriches student learning of course material and "brings books to life and life to books". Engages students in active learning that demonstrates the relevance and importance of academic work for their life experience and career choices. Increases awareness of current societal issues as they relate to academic areas of interest. Broadens perspectives of diversity issues and enhances critical thinking skills. Improves interpersonal skills that are increasingly viewed as important skills in achieving success in professional and personal spheres. Develops civic responsibility through active community involvement.

The benefits of Service Learning For the Community Provides substantial human resources to meet educational, human, safety, and environmental needs of local communities. My Service Learning Blazer Build The entire football team worked together to help build a house in the Valdosta area. It was work in association with Habitat for Humanity. Other athletic teams at VSU participated as well.

My Service Learning Nationwide Golf Tournament The Blazer football team volunteered for the Nationwide Golf Tournament held at Kinder Lou Golf Course in Valdosta, Georgia

My Service Learning Blazer Blood Drive The VSU football team held its annual blood drive this past semester. It was a very important drive, due to weather canceling others in the state. I helped get participants, and handed out refreshments after they were done giving blood.

What Service-learning did for me Community Service connected me more to the community. It allowed me to help those in need, and It gave me a good feeling of accomplishment. I also picked up some useful skills such as, dealing with younger kids, and basic carpentry procedures.
