3. WESTERN ACADEMY OF BEIJING MS HOMEWORK GUIDELINES 2010-2011 Western Academy of Beijing strives to assist all students to meet their academic potential. The accomplishment of this goal requires a team approach by students, parents and teachers.

4. WAB Middle School strives to provide meaningful homework for all students. Our teachers will therefore give these kinds of homework: Application: to further apply concepts learned in class (e.g. review class notes; complete mathematics problems)

5. Extension: to think more deeply about questions that matter (e.g. discuss an issue with a parent; read an article about a topic discussed in class)

6. Creative work: (e.g. design/perform an experiment in the kitchen) Preparation: (e.g. complete a graphic organizer for a writing task; study for an assessment)

7. Homework Guidelines Grade 6:60 minutes (approximately 15 minutes per subject every 2 nd day) Grade 7:70 minutes (approximately 15-20 minutes per subject every 2 nd day) Grade 8:80 minutes (approximately 20 minutes per subject every 2 nd day)

8. Additional homework could result from a student’s misuse of class time. This additional work will be done outside of class time, which could include lunch times and after school (e.g. at Homework Club and/or at home).
