Heating was the main focus. ◦ Months October to April Cooling was an issue because we could not calculate out percentage of use. ◦ 56% was used to estimate month when used. Survey of Smith Calculations (carbon emissions, savings, unused area, carbon savings)
3
School Policy ◦ 66 to 77 degrees ◦ Each building gets a percentage of the bill. (75% smith, 25% east library) ◦ Really don’t know about or how to use meter readings Facility Policy ◦ 70 to 74 degrees ◦ Uses school policy as guideline ◦ If people call and ask for change they will do it. ◦ Rented spaces (subway) get to choose their own setting. ◦ Electricity – HVAC/ Lighting percentage (heating and cooling account for 56%, U.S. government)

Fans 1-12
5
Heating time frame ◦ Scheduled usage ◦ Administrative areas
7
Occupancy Sensors ◦ sensors @ $40.80 each ◦ power supply@ $25.99 each ◦ Wiring= ? ◦ Labor= ? ◦ 41 needed
8
High estimation $1500 each Low estimation $350 each Average cost $925 Total cost @ $925 = $37,925
9
Savings each year= $4451.58 8.5 years
10
Fenced gates to solid gates Changing office locations
11
Reduce average temperature ◦ Current average temp 72.26° F ◦ Reduce by 1 Fahrenheit degree ◦ Overall savings $142.39 each month
12
Therms / Year = 897.97 CO 2 output = 5306.98 tons Gasoline Equivalent = 7466 gallons I can drive my Tahoe nearly 4 times around the earth
13
Electricity ( 07- 133.09/1597.12, 09-122.75/1473.04 )
14
Natural Gas
15
Wasted Therms yearly = 4000.13 Tons of CO 2 Yearly = 23,640.74 Gasoline Equivalent = 33,269 gallons

What do you think the current temperature is set at? ◦ Average temperature- 69.10 F Student or Staff/ Faculty ◦ 108 student, 8 staff What floor do you spend most of your time on? ◦ 1% subbasement, 8% basement, 46% 1 st, 24% 2 nd, 9% 3 rd and 12% 4 th How do you rate the temperature during winter? ◦ 73% acceptable, 16% cold, 11% warm How do you rate the temperature during summer? ◦ 64% acceptable, 13% cold, 21% warm, 2% no answer
17
Would you be fine with adjusting heating system to decrease carbon emissions? ◦ 72% yes, 2 % no, 26% maybe Would you be fine with adjusting cooling system to decrease carbon emissions? ◦ 53% yes, 7% no, 40% maybe What is your preferred temperature? (heating/cooling) ◦ Question had to be thrown out.
