Green Space and its Affects on Bellingham Home Prices

In concert with Dr. Julia Hansen I will be conducting a preliminary study to determine whether or not the location of a Bellingham home in respect to green space has any affect on its value.

Is there a correlation between the price of a home and its location to a simple recreation area? What variables need to be taken into account so that a meaningful result may be realized?

Statistical significance of a price differential is the main objective of my analysis A graphical representation of pricing differentials (possible 3D representation)

Sales data must be cleaned up and processed Green Space must be identified and represented Geocoding and the necessity of a specially tailored shape file Neighborhood designation to assist in determining comps. Note - - King Mountain

ArcMap and ArcCatalog along with specific statistical functions of excel will be instrumental in meaningful analysis The nature of the data and analysis should not afford any undue difficulty in finding data

Currently I have some rough data in need of processing I have no Green Space data I do, however have guidelines and open avenues available to aid in speedy data collection

Is encouraged and welcomed from anyone willing/forced to give it (e.g. get Jen’s home number) Should not be a necessity given the nature of the project and its linearity

Process sales data Create Green Space shape file Conduct GIS and statistical analysis Create graphical display detailing findings Given time: incorporate more variables in an effort to improve statistical significance Research and compose a literature review in preparation for a more complete study. Open to suggestions
