A female Turtle has short claws and a fat, wide tail. The only way to tell with a snapping turtle is the male turtle have a fat wider tail. The female has a skinny tale that’s smaller.

7 The different environments that turtles live in Eastern Painted Turtle Snapping Turtle Painted turtles are the most common turtle in North America. They live in freshwater places such as ponds, lakes, marshes, and creeks. They spend a lot of time at the bottom of water as well as in some plants that grow in water. Snapping turtles live only in fresh water. They like water with muddy bottoms and lots of plants, so that they can hide more easily. Snapping turtles spend almost all their time in water, but they go on land to lay their eggs in the sand.

8 How Turtles affect our environment Turtles affect there environment by eating blue-green and green algae, roots, and fruits so they don’t over grow and over populate They also eat small animals such as tadpoles, frogs, small fish, crayfish, and shrimp, this way nothing will over populate. The turtles predators make sure that the turtles doesn’t grow to much or they will take over The predators are crows, mink, raccoons, otters, snakes, large turtles, and skunks
