1. WELCOME TO ERWC Expository Reading and Writing Course

2. IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING: What is ERWC?  This course was developed by the California State University system in an attempt to better prepare incoming students for the required university English course.

3. YOUR FIRST HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT:  Go to the following website and access your EAP scores.  www.csuenglishsuccess.org  In the top right corner, under 12 th graders, “find out your EAP status”.  Write down your scores (English and Math) and turn them into me at the beginning of class tomorrow for 25 points.

4. DON’T FEEL BAD IF YOU LEARN YOU DIDN’T PASS.  In fall of 2010, the most recent year with data, only 32% of Oxnard High Students who took the test were proficient.  Statewide 50% of students score proficient.  Countywide 63% of students score proficient.  We need to step it up and we will do exactly that, in this class, this year.
