HIV/AIDS in Rwanda Nearly half of Rwanda’s total population is below the age of 15. Many of these youth were orphaned through the 1994 genocide and HIV/AIDS. Many adult women living with HIV were infected through rape. Public Health officials report that the incidence of HIV/AIDS among youth is increasing while services and education that caters to them is insufficient. 3 Approaches: condoms, gender-based violence, sugar-daddy/sugar-mommy
