So what are Open Education Resources (OER’s)?? Open Education Resources are any educational resources (such as lesson notes, lectures, assignment questions etc) that have been made freely available, usually with restrictions that encourage the sharing and/or remixing of those resources, for example under a Creative Commons licence.

Free resources?!? Where do we get them?? YouTube Flickr Merlot Wikieducator OER Commons... To name but a few!

An Open Door to a 2 way street The ethos behind Open Education Resources is one of sharing for the benefit of all (“sharing is learning” – OER Commons). Currently, UNE policy regarding knowledge assets is under review. It is my hope that in the future if a resource you need does not yet exist – it could be an opportunity to demonstrate what UNE can create!

A toe in the water... Whilst we may be limited in sharing resources as openly as possible, we can still benefit from using selected OER’s in our teaching materials!
