Introduction (Dawn) Planning for digitization (Beth) Scanning and creating PDF files from scans (Yongli) Quality control (Amy) Ask questions at any time!
3
We have learned of digitization initiatives in campus departments; We know there is variation in practices and procedures;
4
We would like to share what we have learned so you can produce a high-quality, scanned document that will be easily accessed, read, downloaded, and printed and more likely to be preserved in future years; Digitization requires a commitment of time and effort
5
Ideally, you can locate print documents in their original digital form and avoid scanning Advantages: ◦ Smaller file size ◦ Better quality ◦ Running the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) process is not necessary
6
The Libraries do not currently offer routine scanning services for campus units We are most happy to offer follow-up, hands-on training in our lab for interested persons Contact Dawn Paschal or Beth Oehlerts: Dawn.Paschal@colostate.edu Dawn.Paschal@colostate.edu Beth.Oehlerts@colostate.edu Beth.Oehlerts@colostate.edu
