As Scout and Jem are walking home from the pageant someone jumps out at them (at first they assume it is Cecil, but then the realize they are in true danger). Scout is grabbed by the attacker, but is saved by the chicken wire in her costume. Jem then jumps on the attacker, and Scout is able to run home.
